The American Film Market (AFM) wrapped up in Santa Monica, USA on November 13.
Multi-series TV films, movies and animations created by Moscow studios were presented at the film market under a single brand “Created in Moscow”, as part of the Moscow Export Center’s special program. Seventeen Moscow media producers and distributors showcased more than 50 projects this year.
Central Partnership company (part of Gazprom-Media Holding) held more than 150 meetings at AFM with buyers from more than 30 countries around the world. Buyers from the USA, Great Britain and Asian countries expressed particular interest in the new films.
The company’s main project is the drama Chernobyl. Bezdna (Chernobyl. Abyss), produced by Non-Stop Production and DK Entertainment. The film talks about the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion in 1986. Danila Kozlovsky directed the film with Ravshana Kurkova and Oksana Akinshina playing the lead roles, among other actors.
Central Partnership also presented the action drama Ogon (Fire), which was produced by Nikita Mikhalkov’s TRITE Studio together with Rossiya 1 TV channel. The film focuses on the heroic deeds of firefighters and rescuers. Aleksey Nuzhny directed the film. He previously worked on such films as Ya Hudeu (I am Losing Weight) and Gromkaya Svyaz (Speakerphone). Famous Russian actor Konstantin Khabensky played the lead role in Ogon.
The romantic adventure film Serebryanye Konki (Silver Skates) is another project that attracted the interest of foreign buyers. It is a joint project of Central Partnership, KIT group of companies, Nikita Mikhalkov’s TRITE Studio and Kinoslovo. The lead roles in the film are played by Fyodor Fedotov, Sofya Priss, Aleksey Guskov and Kirill Zaitsev. Serebryanye Konki will be released in Russian movie theaters in February 2020.
Buyers also showed an interest in the adventure thriller Devyataya (The Ninth), directed by Nikolai Khomeriki. Non-Stop Production produced the film.
Central Partnership held a premiere showing of the fantasy action thriller Avanpost (The Outpost) as part of the film market. Made by PREMIER Studios, the film will go into wide release in Russia on November 21.
