TNT will start showing the miniseries Pereval Dyatlova (Dead Mountain - The Dyatlov Pass Incident) on November 16 at 22:00. This is a mix of mystical drama and documentary thriller about the Soviet tragedy of 1959 when a group of students perished in mysterious circumstances while on a hiking trip in the Ural Mountains. The miniseries will also be available on PREMIER video service.
TV-3 channel’s director Valery Fyodorovich and the channel’s chief producer Evgeny Nikishov produced and directed Pereval Dyatlova. The pair have previously received a TEFI award as the best producers of the television season. Ilya Kulikov wrote the script. He is known for his work on the series Zakon Kamennyh Djunglei (Rules of the Stone Jungle), Chernobyl. Zona Otchuzhdeniya (Chernobyl: Zone of Exclusion), Uchitelya (Teachers), Mylodrama (Melodrama), Politseisky s Ryblyovki (Policeman from Rublyovka). 1-2-3 Production made the series.
Pyotr Fyodorov and Maria Lugovaya played the lead roles in the series, while young actors Ivan Mulin, Irina Lukina (Kasamara), Maria Metsel and others played the Dyatlov hikers. Actors Egor Beroev, Vladimir Simonov, Alexey Vertkov and others also took part.
What makes Pereval Dyatlova unique is the seamless fusion of two storylines. The first storyline tells about the investigation of the tragedy by KGB major Oleg Kostin and looks at all the main scenarios of what might have happened. Kostin has fought in the Great Patriotic War, lost his family but gained an unusual ability to see and feel things that are not immediately obvious. This will help him to investigate the tragedy in his own, unique way. The second storyline gives a detailed and realistic portrayal of Igor Dyatlov and the other students, their lives at university, preparations for the expedition and the expedition itself.
