Variety, the leading U.S. magazine about the film, television and entertainment industry, published its list of 500 most influential media people in the world on October 30. Dmitry Chernyshenko, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding, was included on the list.
Dmitry Chernyshenko’s profile lists his achievements in the spheres of media and sport. The editors of the magazine especially emphasized his success in the development of sports media.
“In July, Gazprom-Media announced the launch of a new federal television channel about football, Match-Premier, in cooperation with the Russian Premier League,” Variety writes. “Moreover, Dmitry Chernyshenko is making a great contribution to the development of Russian television and film industries. Under his leadership we see the development of KIT Film Studio (part of Gazprom-Media Holding), which produces full-length, television and documentary films.”
Variety magazine also wrote about the exclusive cooperation between Central Partnership (part of Gazprom-Media Holding) and Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment studios for the distribution of films in Russia and the CIS countries.
The magazine’s editors emphasized the role Dmitry Chernyshenko played in the organization and carrying out of the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi as the president of the Organizing Committee, and also praised his contribution to the successful coverage of the home 2018 World Cup.
The Variety500 list is published annually and looks at the achievements of outstanding representatives of the media industry and show business over the past year. The list traditionally includes top managers, media magnates, sponsors, entrepreneurs, actors, musicians and writers. This year's list includes media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, head of The Walt Disney Robert Iger, head of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, film director J. J. Abrams, film director Christopher Nolan, actor Bradley Cooper, writer J. K. Rowling, Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff, among others.
