The online resource kino-teatr.ru has carried out an annual survey among Russian film and TV critics to identify three Russian TV shows they consider to be the best in 2018. The journalists gave top marks to the projects Zvonite DiCaprio! (Call DiCaprio!), Obychnaya Zhenshina (An Ordinary Woman) and Domashny Arest (House Arrest). These TV shows were created by TNT, TV-3, Comedy Club Production, Good Story Media and 1-2-3 Production, all of which are part of Gazprom-Media Holding.
Sixteen experts from leading Russian media outlets took part in the poll, including journalists from Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Komsomolskaya Pravda, Ekho Moskvy, Vokrug TV, Afisha.ru and Time Out, as well as those from specialised industry media outlets Byulletenya Kinoprokatchika, ProfiCinema, Telescop, kino-teatr.ru and others.
TV-3’s series Obychnaya Zhenshina was the leader in terms of the number of positive reviews - 14 out of 16 experts called it the best TV series. Zvonite DiCaprio! was in second place with 12 votes, while Domashny Arest wrapped up the top three with eight votes.
The online resource also evaluated the TV series based on a points system. Zvonite DiCaprio! emerged on top with 25.5 points. Obychnaya Zhenshina was second with 21.5 points and Domashny Arest was third with 18.5 points.
All experts also noted a new trend that emerged this year - the number of high-quality projects, which were added to the TV series lineup and were available only through the streaming services TNT-PREMIER, Start and Rutube.
