The premiere of the documentary film Russia — China. A New Era took place on the NTV channel. The film is about changes in the world, how Russia and China are shaping the meanings of a new era, how our peoples see the future, and what place they will occupy in it.
At the end of 2019, the largest main gas pipeline in Eastern Russia, “Power of Siberia”, was launched. It was a joint project between Gazprom PJSC and the CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation). At that time, the first ever pipeline deliveries of Russian gas to Chinese consumers began. The documentary film is a project by NTV journalists and the CGTN channel (China Media Group). The film shows how life in both countries has changed after the start of deliveries, tracing the path of Russian gas from fields in Irkutsk Region and Yakutia to large industrial enterprises and private homes in China. It analyzes the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthening friendly and trusting relationships, and the development of the energy sector in Russia and China.
This is not the first joint project of NTV and CGTN. In 2023, a series of joint reports aired on the channels. Last fall, at the invitation of Chinese colleagues, an NTV film crew visited the provinces of Sichuan, Anhui, and Zhejiang, where they prepared a series of reports dedicated to Chinese culture and economic achievements.
Also, in May of last year, Gazprom-Media Holding and China Media Group signed a cooperation agreement. The document was signed by the CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding, Aleksandr Zharov, and the president of China Media Corporation (CMG), Shen Haixiong, in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
NTV is part of Gazprom-Media Holding.
