Exclusively on RUTUBE: The Queen of Spades broadcast from the stage of Bolshoi Theater

Gazprom-Media Holding, the leading diversified media holding in Russia and Eastern Europe, organised the broadcast in its status as the official sponsor of the Bolshoi Theatre opera. For the first time in the history of the Bolshoi Theatre each person in Russia has the unique opportunity to watch The Queen of Spades opera, which opened its 246th theatrical season, on RUTUBE.

The Queen of Spades broadcast is available in the newly created section, “Special project of the Bolshoi Theatre”. 

The Bolshoi Theatre opened its 246th theatrical season with the opera The Queen of Spades by composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky, the libretto by Modest Tchaikovsky, based on the story by Alexander Pushkin. The performance took place on the Theatre’s Historic Stage from 13-15 September. RUTUBE viewers will be able to watch the 2018 production, which was staged by the renowned drama director Rimas Tuminas.

The musical component is conducted by a Merited Artist of the Russian Federation, the main conductor and musical director of the Bolshoi Theatre, Tugan Sokhiev. 

Herman’s role is sung by the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Yusif Eyvazov, the role of Countess by the Merited Artist of the Russian Federation, mezzo-soprano Svetlana Shilova, and the role of Lisa by the soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre opera troupe, soprano Anna Nechaeva.

Gazprom-Media Holding and the Bolshoi Theatre signed a cooperation agreement in April 2021 as part of which the Holding became an “Official Opera Sponsor” for the Bolshoi Theatre. Their collaboration began with the 245th anniversary theatrical season.
