TV channels TNT and TV-3 launched the first web-series in Russia, developed on the principle of cross-promo. The main character of the mystical thriller Gogol, Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol, played by Aleksandr Petrov, goes on a journey through the worlds of TNT TV series.
In the first episode, the characters of the series Politseysky s Rublyovki (The Policeman from Rublyovka), Lieutenant-Colonel Yakovlev and his subordinate Captain Izmailov, arrive on the film set of Gogol with a drug raid. Petrov, in the role of Izmailov, meets with Petrov in the role of Gogol, which leads to humorous moments.
“Nobody in Russia has promoted films in this way. But we launched this web series not just for the sake of becoming the first. Gogol is a breakthrough project, in which classical stories that are familiar to all from school years are told in a modern language that is understandable to a young audience. We want to show that Gogol is just as funny, scary and relevant as he was two centuries ago and to emphasize this once again we sent our hero into the worlds of TNT series, which are populated by modern characters, just like you and I. As you can see, Gogol looks quite natural in their company,” said Valery Fyodorovich, general manager of TV-3.
