The winners of the Best Brands international independent awards were announced in Moscow on July 16. The awards, which took place online for the first time, recognize the strongest brands in Russia.

Serviceplan Group Russia organizes the Best Brands awards, and Gazprom Media was the general partner of the event for the second time. The ceremony was hosted by Nikolay Uskov, editorial director of the Russian edition of Forbes, together with Vadim Takmenev, deputy chief producer of NTV and author and host of NTV’s Tsentralnoe Televidenie (Central Television) program.

GfK conducted marketing research to determine the winners, which were chosen based on two criteria: the economic success of the company on the market and the emotional attachment that consumers have to the brand, as reflected in a survey. More than 7,000 consumers took part in the large-scale survey in Russia to help determine the winners out of 300 brands in 40 categories.

This year, there were six nominations, with a new category to represent the choice of millennials. This award was presented by Ekaterina Veselkova, general manager of Gazprom Media’s sales house.
