​Italian and British viewers will see Viking

Central Partnership film company, a part of Gazpom-media holding, announced a deal for theatrical release of historical epic Viking in Italy and the UK.

In Italy and Italian-speaking countries, the deal was signed with a large distributor – Eagle. In UK, Central Partnership partnered with Arrow Films.

Viking is the high-budget project behind the team of Day Watch and Night Watch, one of the most successful Russian projects on the international market.

Vadim Vereschagin, Deputy Director General for Film Distribution at Central Partnership, said,

"Italy and the UK are very challenging markets with a very demanding audience. We are glad that we reached agreements with Eagle and Arrow films. Viking is a worthy movie and I'm sure it will fit the taste of European audience."

Clare McArdle, TV Acquisitions and Sales Director at Eagle Pictures, commented, "We are very excited about launching Viking on the Italian market. We really believe in this movie and are sure that the response from the Italian audience will be extremely positive. The production level is very high and we can see how it was such an enormous success in Russia."

Tom Stewart, Acquisitions Director at Arrow Films, said, "We are thrilled to bring Viking to British audience. We think such a spectacular action movie will have a success in Great Britain."

Viking has already been sold to a number of European countries including Germany, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and the countries of the former Yugoslavia. A pan-regional deal was signed with Latin American countries.

Viking directed by Andrey Kravchuk and produced by Konstantin Ernst and Anatoly Maximov was released in Russia last December. To date, Viking box office reached 1,534 million rubles making epic the top selling movie of 2016. 5.7 million viewers watched Viking.
