Aleksandr Zharov spoke at SPIEF about the role of media in international cultural cooperation

Aleksandr Zharov, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding, took part in the “Arts without Borders: Cultural Diplomacy Development” session.

Answering the question about the role of private media companies in the development of international cultural relations, Aleksandr Zharov emphasized that media holdings can and even should engage in international activities that would promote national interests.

Any private media company is set up to make a profit, but in order to make a profit in our own and foreign markets, we must produce a product that will be in demand by viewers both in our country and in others. We were talking about movie co-production, and I absolutely believe that is a tool of cultural diplomacy.
