October 21, 2015 Moscow, Russia - JSC Gazprom media, the leading diversified media holding in Russia and Eastern Europe, announces that CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko was awarded for the ‘Service to Olympians’ by the World Olympians Association (WOA).
The Gala ceremony was held in Moscow in terms of the inaugural World Olympians Forum.
"This honorable award is another recognition of the success of the Olympic Games in Sochi. I am especially pleased to receive it from the hands of the World Olympians Association. First of all, Olympic Games in Sochi were remembered as the ‘Games for athletes’ due to comfortable conditions, the most compact and competitive transport infrastructure. It is the merit of the organizers of the Games and all those who were involved in the creation of the Olympic Sochi", - said General Director of JSC Gazprom media Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Dr. Francis Edwin Lava, the member of WOA and Olympian from Sierra Leone also received award for the Service to Society for the campaign against the Ebola virus #targetebola. Ex-president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge was honored with the ‘life-time achievement for an Olympian’ award.
The first World Forum of Olympians was held in Moscow from October, 20 to 22. The Forum was established by the WOA in partnership with the Russian Olympic Committee. The Forum was visited by Olympic athletes from more than 120 National Olympians Associations (NOAs), representatives from the IOC, as well as famous public figures in the world of sports. Russian President Vladimir Putin, the president of the IOC, Thomas Bach, the patron of the World Olympians Association Prince Albert II of Monaco and the president of the World Olympians Association Joël Bouzou visited the forum.
