Vadim Tereshchuk, CEO, GPM Radio: “Radio is an island of calm and certainty in the raging stream of modern content”

Vadim Tereshchuk, CEO of GPM Radio, participated in the Radio of the Future session organized by the Russian Radio Academy at the 28th NAT International Congress at the Moscow Industrial Media Forum.

There is a big difference between streaming and radio today. On streaming services, the younger generation chooses ultra-modern Russian tracks. At the same time, more than half of Russians over 12 years old in cities with populations over 100,000 listen to the radio daily, and they demand traditional content more than that which has just been produced. And it is important that foreign music is not disappearing from media consumption or the airwaves. We are relevant in terms of presenting global content

It is radio that provides a selection of new releases from artists around the world, which streaming cannot afford due to legal restrictions. In addition, people understand exactly what they will hear when they tune in to a radio station.

For today’s young people, no matter how paradoxical it may sound, radio is an island of calm and certainty in a raging stream of modern content. Radio is as forever fashionable as a Birkin bag

Another difference between radio and other media is that it is always on the edge between online and offline contact with its listener.

Online contact is through broadcasts or through digital consumption, while offline contact is through events, and radio is a headliner in organizing all kinds of mass music events. It is also important in this case that advertisers immediately receive a response to their advertising activity through the radio. The combination of online and offline is a unique feature of radio and is grounds to say that even in 20 years’ time we will be doing things that appeal to our listeners
