NTV will begin airing the next installment of Pyos (Dog), the most popular TV series in Russia, on August 30. The main characters in the detective series, independent police officer Max Maksimov and his loyal, shaggy friend Pyos, will continue to investigate the most difficult crime cases. Popular theatre and film actor Nikita Panfilov and German shepherd Mukhtar continue to play the lead roles in the series.
NTV channel started airing the detective series about independent investigator Max Maksimov and his four-legged friend in 2016. Since then Pyos has become the most popular TV series in Russia. According to a survey the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) carried out in 2020, NTV’s action-packed series got 6% of the votes and topped the series ranking. Pyos was the No.1 series in 2019 as well. The detective series led the primetime slot on numerous occasions, according to Mediascope data, while the total number of views the series got on NTV’s website and YouTube page exceeds 330 million. In the spring of 2019, the channel sold the international broadcast and digital rights for Pyos to global distributor Dori Media Group.
