The filming of the first Russian musical comedy-drama SOLD OUT has started in Moscow. The plot centers on a young rapper in the midst of a crisis. Together with his team of equally complicated personalities he has to record an album in one month and sell out a concert - only then can he break free of his label’s dictatorship and secure a future in which he is loved and appreciated.
Valeriy Fedorovich and Evgeny Nikishov (To the Lake, Dead Mountain - The Dyatlov Pass Incident) are producing SOLD OUT together with Sergei Kornikhin, Konstantin Mayer and Nikolai Kulikov (Ya Hudeu / I’m on a Diet, Tolya-Robot). Ivan Plechyov is directing the project.
SOLD OUT is a story about life within and around a music label. From the outside, it looks like a glamorous show business, but inside it is a large dysfunctional family that is going through tough times. Some members of the family crave freedom, others have hit a dead end and don’t want anything anymore. The label’s patriarchs dream of taking a break, while those they offended dream of taking their place at the head of the table.
