A fantasy series about vampires who live peacefully in a Russian province will air on TNT on August 9.

TNT will air the television premiere of Vampiry Sredney Polosy (Vampires of Central Russia) on August 9 at 22:00. It is a series that mixes the drama, comedy and fantasy genres, together with the unique style of old Russian folk tales about evil spirits.

The series takes place in Smolensk, a city in western Russia where vampires have lived since ancient times. Grandfather Slava, also known as the original vampire Stanislav Vernidubovich, is the oldest of them. Slava has a big family of people that he turned into vampires. They live quietly and obey the laws. While they don’t kill people, they do drink their blood…carefully so that they don’t drain them to death. But one day two blood-drained young men are found in a birch grove near Smolensk. Grandfather Slava’s family now risks getting exposed and executed, as per an ancient agreement between vampires and humans.
