The filming of the series YuZZZ (South-West), an eight-episode crime drama about love in the midst of street fights and hip hop, started in Rostov-on-Don. The PREMIER video service will release the series in 2022.
YuZZZ (South-West) is a crime drama about the millennial generation, set in a harsh modern reality. In the series, a Romeo and Juliet story unfolds in modern day Rostov-on-Don. Using the best modern film adaptations of Shakespeare’s classic - Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (1996) and West Side Story (1961) by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins - as a reference, the creators of YuZZZ are crafting a realistic story that takes place on the streets of Rostov. An ultra-modern musical soundtrack will help viewers to immerse into the world of young, contemporary gangsters who live by the laws of the street.
