NTV has produced a series of reports on Chinese culture and economy

Gazprom-Media Holding is paying great attention to the development of cooperation with Chinese partners. An example of the development of bilateral relations is a project from NTV and China Media Group. Last year, CGTN and NTV aired a series of joint reports. And this autumn, by invitation of Chinese colleagues, the NTV crew visited the provinces of Sichuan, Anhui and Zhejiang, where they prepared a series of reports on Chinese culture and economic achievements.

There were stories about small business and rural revitalization, aviation and the low altitude economy, silk, pandas, Sichuan opera, and the kung fu tea ceremony.

It’s been an incredible 12 days! It was total immersion into the ancient culture of China. While filming in Sanshan village, CGTN colleague Xiang Zhongnan and I were able to dye things indigo with a 2000-year-old technique. In Chengdu, we experience “technical” kung fu tea with its sharp moves in a confined space, as well as Sichuan opera, where the mystery of the changing masks still causes excitement to this day. The painstaking conservation work for pandas was also impressive. Bamboo bears served as an important tool for Chinese diplomacy as far back as the Tang Dynasty. The industrial part of the trip included an introduction to modern approaches in silk production. With new technologies, silk is today not only available to the rich as it was in ancient times. Colleagues also talked about the low altitude economy development program. A similar project has been developed in Russia. The topic of unmanned aircraft systems is another major area of cooperation between Russia and China.”

The reports were aired on NTV during the BRICS summit held in Kazan.

“The trip was very successful. We managed to not only capture modern and ancient China on camera, but also to find a new approach to cooperation between Chinese and Russian media. In my opinion, this is just as important. I express my sincere appreciation to our colleagues from NTV, and the high level of professionalism they have shown. Our joint project was aired during the BRICS summit held in Kazan and received a good response from viewers. I hope that this cooperation will continue and every joint story will help to bring the audiences of our countries closer together.”

In May, Gazprom-Media and the China Media Group signed a cooperation agreement. The document was signed by Aleksandr Zharov, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding, and Shen Haixiong, President of China Media Group (CMG), in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The parties will jointly promote technological developments in the media sphere, strengthen joint work in news broadcasting, and exchange expertise on the development of the media sphere.

Also, to strengthen cooperation with Chinese colleagues, a Gazprom-Media Holding delegation headed by Aleksandr Zharov paid a working visit to China in the summer. Representatives of the Holding and its digital assets signed several agreements with leading Chinese technology parks. The documents cover a wide range of areas, including the digital development, content creation and the introduction of new media projects.
