Central Partnership and the distribution companies Flame Node Entertainment and Beijing United Film Artists Co., Ltd. have agreed to release the film Viking in cinemas on the territory of the People’s Republic of China.

The film will get a cinematic release on December 1, 2017 across more than 10,000 screens.

“Viking is a terrific epic action, incredibly beautiful. The story keeps you gripping to the edge of your seat throughout the whole narrative. We are very happy to get such a movie in our cinemas and I’m confident that it will become our next big blockbuster,” said Feng Yi, CEO of Flame Node Entertainment.

“China is one of the most interesting markets for film distribution today, and one of the most challenging. It is fantastic that our Chinese partners appreciated the high quality of the film and showed a great interest in Russian history,” said Pavel Stepanov, general manager of Central Partnership.

Central Partnership also recently signed an agreement to sell the distribution rights to the film Viking on the territories of France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and the French-speaking countries of Africa. First International Production and Wild Brunch will act as the film’s distributors in those countries. The film is planned to be released in the first quarter of 2018.

The film Viking was released in Russian cinemas on December 29, 2016 and became the main event of domestic film distribution in early 2017. To date, Viking has earned more than 1.53 billion rubles, confirming its status as the top Russian film at the box office this year. The film has already been watched by 5.7 million viewers.

Viking was sold for film distribution to more than 80 countries, including Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
